The other night I had the pleasure of watching American: The Bill Hicks story. Sometimes it blows my mind how oblivious I am to certain people and creations that are so totally epic and awesome. That's one of the reason behind this blog, to share and also to learn. So here first let me share:

Bill Hicks: It's Just A Ride Video

I think maybe the reason I'd never really heard of Hicks before was that he passed away when I was a freshman in high school. Although I'm sure I would have found him funny at the time, the merging of social commentary, quantum physics, and attack on mainstream consumerism might have been a BIT over my head. So as it always does the universe brought his thought, wisdom, and sidesplitting funny to me at just the right time. I'm glad I watched the documentary and knew his story before I delved into his treasure chest of comedy that is available on Netflix (as well as the film). The man was wild, tortured, insanely intelligent, and profoundly prolific! For some reason it rings even truer since Bill was my age when he passed away. By 32 he had already left his mark on the world of comedy that will never be forgotten and is just now being rediscoverd by younger generations for the genius that it is. It's funny because 15 years later what Bill had to tell is still so incredibly relevant! My man has got me addicted! When I watch him I feel that I'm learning and laughing at the same and that just seriously fucking rocks!
